Negative Emissions Technology

The NET Project is an undergraduate-led student research project at the University of Texas at Austin which focuses on the cutting edge developments in the NET space. Founded in 2019, the NET Project has been growing along with the field of negative emissions technologies just as they are gaining prominence in the fight against climate change. We have two sub-projects centered around creating real-world action: our Policy Project and our Direct Air Capture (DAC) Project. The Policy Project is focused on introducing and promoting negative emissions technology and policy on a local university scale, alongside efforts at both city and state levels. Our DAC project is much more technical, based upon designing a modular direct air capture system to be integrated into greenhouses

Future goals:
  • Capture carbon through new engineering technologies or biological methods
  • Continue to make changes in the NET space
